Huatulco is a coastal paradise of nine protected bays, each with crystal clear water and beautiful beaches. It's perfect for a relaxing, low-key holiday. The area is surrounded by untouched jungles and ecological reserves so there's plenty to explore when you're not lazing in the sun.
Cruise along the quiet bays and coves of the rugged coastline. Raft or kayak down the Copalita River or golf the challenging Tangolunda course. Hike along lowland jungle trails in Bahias de Huatulco National Park. Look for birds and wildlife or rappel a 50m rock face at the Botazoo Ecological Park.
The mid-range hotels in Santa Cruz are conveniently close to the main town of Crucecita, but the best beach and the more luxurious resorts are on the next bay over at Tangolunda. Because of the hilly terrain, not all resorts are directly on the ocean, but most have beautiful pools and their own beach club nearby.
Almost all hotels are all-inclusive as the local dining and nightlife options are limited. However, it's still worth a taxi into Crucecita to taste some traditional Mexican fare.
